Welcome to my website! After many hours (even days) of surfing the web and viewing different and amazing sites, I decided to change my site format. I am excited about the changes and believe the site will be much more user-friendly! I hope you enjoy it and are able to use it to assist you throughout the school year!
This year I will be teaching fourth grade at Betsy Rhodes Elementary School. This is my 6th year at this school. I am going on my 13th year as a school teacher. I have taught fifth grade (1 year), 2nd grade ( 6 years), and fourth grade ( 5 years). I have also taught 7th & 8th grade Reading as well as a computer class for Nova University. As you can see, I enjoy change. I love the challenge of teaching more than one grade level. As I incorporate more computer use into my classroom, I like to teach the older students. I believe our students need to have a solid grasp of technology to be successful in their future careers.
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. I am a product of the Clark County School District and UNLV. I attended Crestwood ES, Fremont Jr. High, and the original Las Vegas High School. I then received my Elementary Education degree from UNLV. I served as the Education Senator during my senior year at UNLV. I learned so much from this experience and encourage all my students to stay involved and active in their education. I am currently working on creating an alumni chapter for the College of Education at UNLV.
I continued my education by obtaining a M.Ed. in technology integration in Education. Last June, I received, yes, another M.Ed. This time my degree was in Educational Leadership. I also earned my TESL endorsement during this time at UNLV. Currently, I am attending CTE through the district to learn Spanish.
I have a wonderful daughter that is in her senior year at Arbor View High School. It will soon be her turn to attend college so I guess I will pass on the baton! Whitney loves dance and is the co-captain of the dance team at Arbor View HS. We have two cats. Our lovely dog, Tasha, passed away last year. She was a great dog and we miss her. I think the cats even miss her!
The most important things to me are my family, including immediate, extended and adopted members. I also believe that it is extremely important to be a proactive member of my community and to give back and serve others whenever possible. I truly embrace the concept that "it takes a village" to raise healthy, happy, well-adjusted individuals!
